The Rewrite Movie Review

Stars Hugh Grant, Marisa Tomei, J.K. Simmons. Hugh Grant plays a once successful screenwriter who is forced to accept a teaching position at a university in Binghamton, NY. He tries to teach as little as possible in order to spend time writing a new screenplay of his own but eventually learns to like teaching and develops a real interest in helping his students become better writers. Good solid performances all the way through.

Doesn't start off as a feel good movie but the mood definitely changes to something more optimistic towards the latter half.

On a scale of 1 tamale to 10 tamales I give it 7.8 tamales.

Foxcatcher Movie Review

Stars:
Channing Tatum
Mark Ruffalo
Steve Carell

Foxcatcher is based on true events that took place during the late 1980s. Olympic wrestlers/brothers, Dave and Mark Schultz, are recruited by eccentric millionaire John Du Pont to form the next official U.S.A Olympic wrestling team.

However, it quickly becomes clear that Du Pont is less interested in the sport of wrestling and more interested in impressing his aging mother. Thus, he allows his insecurities to get the best of him and takes out his frustrations on Mark and Dave.

All three actors give powerful performances throughout each scene. All of which leads up to a very dramatic conclusion.

On a scale of 1 tamale to 10 tamales I give Foxcatcher a solid 8.5 tamales.

The Equalizer - Mini Movie Review

I was thoroughly surprised by The Equalizer! Surprised and delighted. Denzel Washington really shines in this movie. He plays a badass ex-hitman of sorts who inevitably comes out of retirement in order to help the innocent. I highly recommend you rent/stream it!
I give it 8 out of 10 tamales!

Exodus Gods and Kings - Mini Movie Review

Christian Bale as Moses? Believe it or not, he actually delivers a very powerful performance in this movie. Who knew a bible tale could be retold in such a fantastically secular manner? Not me. I highly recommend renting/streaming this movie.
I give it 8 out of 10 tamales!

Step Brothers Movie Review by Ryan A. Loera

2008
R
Comedy

Stars:
Will Ferrell
John C. Reilly

I'm a devoted Will Ferrell fan. I've seen every movie he's been in. One of my absolute favorites is Step Brothers.

Separately, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are quite hilarious but together they are an unstoppable comedic force!

A favorite scene of mine is when they decide to combine their beds in order to create bunk beds and have more room to do activities. Of course, their carpentry skills are pretty much non-existent. As soon as Dale jumps on the top bunk it slams down onto Brennan with great force! Luckily, Brennan sustains no serious injuries.

Every time I watch Step Brothers I am reminded  of my nephews. They often behave in a similar manner.

On a scale of 1 tamale to 10 tamales I give Step Brothers 8.8 tamales!

Minions Movie Review by Ryan A. Loera

2015
PG
Comedy/Animation

I was never a fan of the Despicable Me movies but I've always liked the Minions. They are just too hilarious to ignore.

The movie begins with their prehistoric origins. By which I mean it shows them evolve from single celled organisms into their current yellow physical form.

As it turns out, they served under some of the most infamous bad guys throughout history. This is primarily a kids movie but it's good to see they at least tried to teach today's kids a little something about history.

There are also plenty of funny scenes to keep everyone laughing and entertained. Minions is a prequel so the ending isn't really surprising. All and all, it's a good family friendly movie.

On a scale of 1 tamale to 10 tamales I give Minions 7 tamales.
